Senior Business Analyst (Credit Decisioning) – Contract (outside IR35)

Join a well-established UK business finance specialist providing tailored funding solutions to SMEs across sectors including agriculture, construction, manufacturing, and transport and logistics — with core products spanning hire purchase, finance lease, refinance and stock finance. The organisation is FCA-regulated, with a strong industry standing, and has grown substantially since receiving significant institutional backing, including through multiple public securitisation facilities that expand its lending capacity.

As Business Analyst – Credit Decisioning Automation, you’ll support a high-priority initiative to automate parts of the organisation’s credit decisioning process — finalising scope, process maps and a benefits case, and capturing risk appetite and underwriting logic in a form a decisioning engine can act on.

The Role

  • Support a decisioning automation initiative: finalising scope, process maps and a benefits case.
  • Capture risk appetite and underwriting logic in a form a decisioning engine can act on.
  • Work closely with Credit/Risk stakeholders to translate policy into structured, codifiable rules — the core skill this role needs.
  • Support business case development, including assumptions, benefits and financial model input.
  • Stay focused specifically on this initiative rather than broader customer/broker-facing scope.
  • Engagement type: 6 months, plus extension (expected to run as an 18-month programme)
  • Reports to Head of Platform Solutions

Requirements

  • Business analysis experience within financial services, ideally asset finance or adjacent regulated lending.
  • Strong process mapping, requirements gathering and documentation discipline (RAID logs, RACI, business case structure).
  • Comfortable working alongside Credit/Risk stakeholders to translate policy into codifiable rules.
  • Numerate enough to support a business case, assumptions, benefits and financial model input.
  • Confident, senior-level stakeholder management — this role works directly with Risk, Credit and senior Operations contacts, not just within Technology.
