As Ecommerce Director, you’ll work with our Managing Director to plan and manage our UK and global Digital strategy – including trading, merchandising and marketing activity, ensuring best practice methodology, site optimisation and an incredible customer experience to attract, convert and maximise retention, driving our business growth.

You’ll be someone who has a passion and a vision for all things digital, you’re so up to date on the latest developments that you can almost see the next one coming. You’ll be in at the very start of a visionary brand that believes in doing good – and making really good products.

The Responsibilities:

Trading / Merchandising

  • Manage all Foam and Substance transactional and non-transactional websites globally
  • Set and manage Digital budgets
  • Responsible for Direct channel forecasts, including building the territorial sales plans and management of KPIs
  • Ensure an exceptional customer service experience on the site at all times by measuring, testing and continuous improvement
  • Take the lead on all digital projects
  • Optimise the site through analytics and onsite usability testing
  • Prioritisation of website bugs and usability issues reported through the service desk and management of bug fixes and development / enhancement tasks
  • Provide analysis and reporting on range performance
  • Merchandising of the website, ensuring appropriate presentation of all category and product pages
  • Ensure product detail information accuracy, including copywriting, image selection and sizing guides
  • Ensure key products are featured, cross-sell and up sells are allocated and key customer journeys are reflected
  • Guarantee accurate and appropriate presentation of any language and currency sites
  • Review touch points to identify opportunities for sales growth; including bestsellers, category traffic, top product views, abandonment etc.
  • Work closely together with all relevant departments within the brand ensuring any plans reflect the departmental forecast

Marketing

  • Liaise with the offline marketing team and represent key brand focusses
  • Lead in testing new marketing channels for suitability
  • Optimize brand visibility on all search engines through SEO and SEM
  • Drive sales and brand awareness through our paid search media in partnering with our digital agencies
  • Develop standalone digital projects, integrated campaigns to develop brand presence on social networks, track brand buzz online and deliver related blogs and emails
  • Developing and executing a comprehensive engagement strategy focused on user activity and retention
  • Devise and execute email strategy and oversee campaigns, measuring and reporting on ROI
  • Design and manage quantitative measurement programs that can track ensure and analyse performance for all campaigns 

The Person:

  • Extensive international ecommerce P&L experience plus recent experience in a similar role for a Brand with luxury or consumer focused lifestyle products
  • Deep understanding of digital marketing strategy as well as the ability to lead and execute digital creative development and production processes
  • Results focused with strong business acumen and a desire to deliver a high quality and a ‘trading’ mentality
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to synthesize large amounts of data and information into concise recommendations and action for the company
  • Passion for the web and sound knowledge and experience of online selling as a multi-channel retailer, merchandising and operations including direct experience of analytics, SEO, payment systems and fulfilment systems
  • Basic understanding of HTML W3C standards and Familiarity with web development technologies
  • Experience with a large platform
  • Strong relationship building and management skills with both internal stakeholders and external partners/agencies
  • Inquisitive – proactive in asking the tough questions to get clarity
  • Credible with Senior Managers and Board
  • Willing to be hands-on and deal with the detail of an entrepreneurial start-up business
